Department of Otorhinolaryngology

The Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Xian No.1 Hospital is equipped with 3 chief physicians and 2 associate chief physicians. The department has many advanced testing equipment, including imported OLYMPUS  laryngofiberscope, which enables the conducting of accurate treatment of nasal bleeding under direct vision, nasopharyngeal biopsy and the surgical treatments of vocal nodules and vocal cord polyp surgery, reducing the visiting time and economic burden of patients. There are also auditory brainstem evoked potentials, pure tone audiometer, acoustic impedance detector and tinnitus-curing instrument, which can effectively improve the cure rate of tinnitus and deafness. Nose and throat microwave treatment instrument has a fairly good therapeutic effect for chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis and hypertrophic rhinitis. It is good at the surgical treatment for nose, throat and ear diseases, and the treatment of acute rhinitis in children, sinusitis and secretory otitis media; it has a unique view on the treatment of otogenic vertigo. The department uses the postauricular subcutaneous pedicle flap for the treatment of congenital atresia of external auditory meatus, uses the postauricular subcutaneous fatty tissue stamp for repairing tympanic membrane perfortation, uses subcutaneous tissue of the external auditory meatus for repairing tympanic membrane perfortation, uses the surgical techniques of middle ear surgery for rapid healing, and uses the surgical techniques for the treatment of secretory otitis media.
Professor Zhang Quan'an who is now working in our department, is the former head of Otolaryngology Department of Medical School of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the head of Ear Diseases Institute, a chief physician, professor and master tutor of Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and a review expert for evaluating national and provincial scientific researches. He has won the second prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award awarded by Science and Technology Commission of Xi'an City, the first prize awarded by Provincial Educational Commission, and has published more than 50 articles in English and Chinese, among which 2 are included in SCI and 8 are included in Medline.
