Anesthesiology Department

The Anesthesiology Department which is a comprehensive first-level clinical department and second-level clinical discipline, is able to complete all kinds of surgical anesthesia and rescue work of critically ill patients, and has certain teaching and research capabilities.
The department is now has 18 staff composed of 15 doctors and 3 nurses, The doctors are composed of 5 associate chief physicians, 3 attending physicians and 7 residents. The educational background of physicians: 7 graduates, bachelor degree or above accounted for 95%. The department is equipped with 10 multi-functional anesthesia machines, 10 multi-function monitors, 4 target-controlled infusion pumps, 2 micro-infusion pumps, 3 defibrillators, and 1 muscular relaxation monitor.
The business of Anesthesiology Department is divided into two sections-the Section of Clinical Anesthesia and the Section of Pain Management.
The Section of Clinical Anesthesiology carries out anesthesia for the elderly, infants and critically ill patients with age span of 28 days old -100 years old. The section provides anesthesia for open heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass, excision of intracranial tumor, excision of pheochromocytoma, excision of spinal tumors and anesthesia for liver, kidney transplants and other organ transplants. It also introduces and uses all kinds of techniques, including peripheral nerve stimulation and muscular relaxation monitoring, central venous monitoring, continuous cardiac output monitoring, direct arterial pressure monitoring, target-controlled infusion, ultrasound-guided central venous catheterization and arterial catheterization. It works with the Ophthalmology Department, Outpatient Department and Emergency Room to perform different monitoring techniques for their patients. The section completes more than 4500 cases of clinical anesthesia, and monitors for more than 5200 cases each year, among which general anesthesia accounts for about 75% and block anesthesia accounts for about 25%. The section has been awarded with two scientific research achievements by Municipal Government and Health Bureau and five national patents. Wherein the closed loop muscle relaxant infusion system has received recognitions from scholars at home and abroad, and has been widely used in clinical practice, and increases the safety of anesthesia.
The Section of Pain Management introduces and applies various techniques, including postoperative pain relieving, painless gastrointeroscopy, painless induced abortion and curettage; radiofrequency ablation and collagenase of cervical and lumbar disc, celiac plexus block for advanced cancer pain, various nerve blocks for the treatment of acute pain, etc. Wherein the celiac plexus block for advanced cancer pain and collagenase of cervical and lumbar disc treat more than 140 patients inside and outside the province and praised by patients and their families.
In recent years, the Anesthesiology Department has actively undertaken international academic exchanges, and has realized exchange of visits with the United States, Germany, Austria, Vietnam and other countries for anesthesiology exchange, improving the academic level of the department.
Moving from development and fleshing out to steady progress, the Anesthesiology Department will continue to enhance the connotation construction, escort the development of the hospital, and make great efforts to build a first-class discipline.
